The orthoptic-led school screening visibility pack leverages our public presence in schools to make vision screening a positive and engaging experience for children, while providing their carers and teachers with evidence-based, accessible information. It also raises awareness of the orthoptic profession and BIOS campaigns, promotes understanding of eye health and treatments, and introduces older pupils to potential careers in orthoptics.
Main Goals
- Help young children understand and feel comfortable about their eye test.
- Support their carers and teachers with evidence-based, accessible information about what vision screening is and why it matters.
- Promote understanding of patching, glasses, and amblyopia treatment, linking with BIOS’s #WePatch and vision screening campaigns.
- Increase visibility of orthoptics within schools and the wider community.
- Introduce older pupils to a career in orthoptics.
