Income tax relief for orthoptists
As a UK taxpayer, you could save money by reclaiming tax on your BIOS membership fees, as well as your HCPC registration fees and other work-related costs, such as the cost of cleaning your uniform.
What’s more, if this is the first time you’ve claimed tax relief, you can backdate your claim for the previous four tax years.
How do I reclaim tax?
You can find out if you’re entitled to reclaim tax here, or by calling the HMRC on 0300 200 3300.
- If you complete a self-assessment tax return, you can claim tax relief on the employment page of your return.
- If you do not file a tax return, you can claim up to £2,500 by completing a P87 form. More information is available on the UK Government website.
- If you’ve already claimed expenses in a previous year, you can claim by phone.
