New guidelines on Graves’ orbitopathy which BIOS' Chair, Rowena McNamara contributed to.

ABSTRACT - Graves’ orbitopathy (GO) is uncommon, but responsible for considerable morbidity. A coordinated approach between healthcare professionals is required in order to meet the needs of patients. Early diagnosis can be achieved by a simple clinical assessment. Low-cost effective interventions can be initiated by generalists, which may improve outcomes. Moderate-to-severe GO should be referred to specialised centres.

Recommendations for clinical diagnosis, initial management and referral pathways are highlighted.

As you may know the HCPC started a consultation on 27th March to ask for registrant's views about increasing its fees from £80 to £90. It closes on 6th May 2015.

The information it has given for this move is on their website http://www.hpc-uk.org/registrants/fees/consultation/

Subject to parliamentary approval and consultation results, the fees would increase from 1st August 2015. You may have already responded as an individual to the consultation but the BIOS would like to provide a group response on behalf of its members.

So please take a few minutes to let us have your views.

If you want to provide your feedback into our BIOS group response on HCPC fees please do so by April 30th 2015. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HCPCFEES

The HCPC says: "We are proposing a £10 increase (an increase of 12.5%) to the annual renewal fee. This increases the renewal fee from £80 to £90. We are proposing similar increases to most of the other fees we charge.

If the proposals outlined in this document are agreed, the fees would be increased from 1 August 2015. Registrants would then pay the new renewal fee when they next renewed their registration after this date."
