Use of Artificial Intelligence(AI) in the workplace
Does your Trust or Health Board have a policy on the use of AI at work? If it has, it may be advisable to read it and if not, those of you who are managers and TU reps would be advised to contact your local Joint Negotiation and Consultation Committee (JNCC) and ask if a policy is being developed, as it should be.
Whilst the NHS is being encouraged to use AI to support diagnostics and speed up reporting etc, there is inadequate training in AI, and some staff are finding themselves in disciplinary processes for the use of unapproved AI. If your Trust provides training, it is advisable to access it.
A number of employers do not accept job applications from applicants who have used AI models such as ChatGPT to make the application, while others are happy to accept AI-generated applications, so it is advisable to check before making an application.
If you are a recruiting manager and find that you are receiving more and more applications from people with barely relevant qualifications and experience, then it is likely that they are from applicants using AI search systems to help them make multiple applications. It may be worth discussing with your HR department what their stance on this is, as it may be possible to have them filtered out to avoid you wasting your time.
