Meet our Executive Board
Roshni Pancholi, Executive Board Member Midlands & East
I’m proud to serve as a Union Representative and as the Executive Board member for the Midlands. I have been a BIOS Representative for 3 years for my department. In 2025, I was nominated as BOSTU Rep of the Year and won! Following this, I had the opportunity to be involved with the union on a larger scale and was voted into my Executive role.
My role is to listen to members’ concerns, provide guidance on workplace issues, and represent our collective voice when discussing matters with management. I believe strong communication and unity are key to protecting our rights and improving our working environment, and I’m here to support anyone who needs advice or representation. A strong union is built on communication, trust, and solidarity, and I’m committed to helping create a workplace where everyone feels respected and protected. I feel very strongly that by working together, we can make positive and real changes that better our personal and professional lives.
Chloe Lafferty, Executive Board Member South & East
I work at King’s College Hospital (South Sites) as the Head of Optical Services. Prior to that I worked at Moorfields for 20 years and was a local and regional rep. Through my roles, I have gained extensive experience in leadership, service development, and supporting staff across a busy clinical environment. I was inspired to stand on the BOS(TU) Executive board because of my previous trade union experience and a strong belief that I have valuable knowledge and skills to offer. As a board member, I hope to support members when they feel vulnerable, act as a trusted ally, and ensure they feel listened to, represented, and empowered.
Karen Knowles, Executive Board Member North & East
I am currently the Head of Orthoptics and Optometry at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals, part of Mersey and West Lancashire NHS Teaching Hospitals, a role I have held for the past five years. Prior to this, I worked as an Advanced Orthoptist and spent over 15 years as a Trade Union representative. During that time, I was involved in a wide range of local representative work, including membership of the Joint Negotiating Council, policy groups, stage two employment panels, and extensive work on Agenda for Change, initially through job matching and later through consistency panels to ensure transparency and equity. This experience has been extremely valuable in my current leadership role. When the Northern Executive post was advertised, I saw it as an opportunity to bring together my long-standing union experience with the strategic skills I have developed as a head of department, making it a role that perfectly reflects my professional values and interests.
