HEE (Health Education England) have commissioned a year-long project with the aim of increasing clinical placement capacity by creating an integrated simulated practice-based education programme for pre-registration Orthoptic students in the UK. This is a collaborative project involving the three Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) within England: University of Sheffield, University of Liverpool and University College London.
Some of you may have met us at the Clinical Tutors’ Day hosted by UCL on 16th June.
For those who did not we would like to introduce you to the team:

Our goal is to develop integrated simulated placements, replacing some face-to-face clinical teaching with simulated learning. This means that the HEIs will work together to take on some of the clinical teaching while students are on placements. For further information on the project, including an overview of the project plan, please follow this link:
Your opinions are essential in ensuring this is a successful project that will meet the needs of learners, clinical placement sites and HEIs. We would be grateful if you could complete the linked questionnaire by 30th June 2023.
We are also looking for clinical placement sites that are interested in hosting a pilot placement. If you would like any further information then please contact one of the team.
