The BIOS Professional Development Framework is a resource that has been co-created by and for the orthoptic workforce following an extensive period of engagement with all layers of our clinical and student workforce. This is the first time that we have a profession specific resource which all individuals within the profession are able to use to identify existing skills and experience, as well as the learning and development needs required for continued personal professional development, at all career levels.

The aim of the Framework is to provide you with a resource which will enable personal growth to continue your professional development, it is not designed to navigate progression through specific pay bands or pay scales; although development facilitated through the use of this Framework may contribute to progression along a specific career path.
