November marks Islamophobia Awareness Month (IAM), a time dedicated to acknowledging the impact of Islamophobia and taking steps toward a more inclusive, understanding society. This year’s theme, “Seeds of Change,” encourages us to take small, intentional actions to build a future free from prejudice.
Small Actions Make a Big Difference
IAM’s “Seeds of Change” theme reminds us that even small actions like
- Educating ourselves
- Supporting colleagues
- Addressing discrimination—can create meaningful change.
Workplaces that prioritise inclusion experience significant improvements in employee satisfaction and retention, highlighting the benefits of fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Virtual Coffee Break in December
As we conclude IAM, BIOS would like to invite all Orthoptists to a virtual coffee break session, to reflect on this month’s initiatives. Join us to share experiences, ask questions, and discuss how we can continue supporting inclusivity throughout the year.
- BIOS Virtual Coffee Break, Wednesday 11th of December at between 12.30 and 1.30 the link to join the session is here.
Let’s Plant Seeds of Change By learning about Islamophobia, supporting inclusivity, and participating in these events, we can all contribute to a workplace that values respect and empathy. Together, we can make lasting strides toward unity and understanding.
