BIOS have been approached by the NHSE New Hospital Programme Transformation Project Team to provide input around the needs of hospital-based orthoptic departments within the physical planning of new hospitals in England.
The team are in discussions with all AHP professions to gain an understanding of our needs and have asked for some high level detail around for example the mean number of Orthoptic appointments made.
We feel that this approach could potentially underestimate the room requirements.
In order to provide them with information that fully reflects our needs across differing providers, we would be most grateful if departments in England could complete and return our short survey by Friday 29th December.
Please also include any clinical rooms within your Department which are used for purposes other than Orthoptics e.g. Visual Fields, Biometry etc. As far as appointments are concerned please only return Orthoptic activity.
