We are aiming to create a network for orthoptists, optometrists and ophthalmic nurses working in neuro-ophthalmology extended roles. The aim is to link in with UKNOS and we have had a preliminary meeting with Mags Dayan (service director). We have also have ongoing contact with the BIOS neuro CAG leads. We felt there was a gap for supporting and sharing ideas about how orthoptists, optometrists and ophthalmic nurses are working as specialists in neuro-ophthalmology across the UK. Our aim is to collate protocols and competency packs to look at where the differences lie, so we can share ideas about developing in these clinics, creating new pathways and how we can best offer support within this specialism. We will be arranging a meeting across trusts to discuss this in due course.
