We are proud to host the 2020 congress of the IOA (June 20th-23rd) and see it come home to where orthoptics first began by Mary Maddox in 1928 and celebrate 92 wonderful years of Orthoptics. We are looking forward to welcoming delegates from across the world to share in learning, research, practice and education from across the globe, embracing the diversity of our profession. Orthoptics is a growing profession and there are opportunities for Orthoptists to enhance their skills, knowledge, expertise and practice into many areas of eye health, neuro rehabilitation and public health initiatives.
In addition to the Congress, Liverpool is also the ideal location to visit with numerous cultural and tourist attractions, from the Beatles museum to the Tate Art Gallery and from Cathedrals to a trip on the Ferry across the Mersey or the opportunity to explore the view of the City and distant Cumbrian mountains from Radio City’s Tower.
After a packed day of the scientific programme, which includes invited speakers, symposia from international associations, workshops, posters, free papers and the Zoran Georgievski Education Forum, be sure to join us for the social programme including the gala dinner at the Maritime Museum or come along to the morning run, taking in the waterfront to invigorate you for the day ahead.
If you’ve never been to an IOA Congress before or presented a paper or poster, what a great time to start whilst it’s on your doorstep. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase to the rest of the world all the initiatives, good practice and research that we do in the UK.
