In 2016 the e-SIG ran a preliminary survey on the use of digital records. A lot has changed since then and many more of you are now using digital records for orthoptic reports, so we are running a follow-up survey to see how people feel about their experiences. You do not have to be a Head to fill it in, we are interested in everybody’s experience. We are particularly keen to know
- What systems are being used and how?
- How you feel digital orthoptic records compare with written reports (the good and the bad things), so we really want responses from people who have made the change to digital in the last few years and can have used both systems. Try to think back to how you worked then, and how it has changed.
Medisoft is in the process of developing a new orthoptic module for their Medisight package , and BIOS will be working with them over the next year to make it as good as we can in terms of ease of use and what we need. A first step is to find out what works well, but also what are the main problems that need fixing about digital records in our specific context.
The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete and before you start, you will need to have found out the commercial names (and versions if you know them) of the different packages you personally have to access when seeing a patient e.g. Medisoft, OpenEyes, appointment and demographic systems, eye clinic or general hospital notes, research or community records. Heads might be able to make sure everyone in their department has access to this information if they need it.
When you are ready to do the survey, please click the link below. The survey will remain open for one month.
