In our busy NHS world we are very focused on our patient’s health and well-being that we can sometimes forget about our own. I have recently come across an app that many of you may have heard of, ‘Calm’, but did you know you could access it for free?
The CalmHealth initiative provides healthcare practitioners with:
- a free one-year premium subscription to Calm
- a shareable overview of the benefits of mindfulness meditation
- a one-month premium trial to Calm for all of your clients
A few years ago I would have dismissed apps like this without much of a second thought, however I’m sure like many of you we have had times where work is stressful and I have found that meditation and mindfulness is very helpful to combat this.
I have also had recent experience using the app with a patient who was incredibly anxious regarding her thyroid eye disease. She self-reported to me finding this a very beneficial addition to her care.
In our capacity of making every contact count this was an alternative and rewarding way to help a patient.
