The BIOS Board of Trustees is happy to announce that, following the recruitment process, our current Vice Chair Helen Haggerty will take up the role of Chair of BIOS when Crag Murray steps down at the AGM in 2027.

A long-serving Head of Orthoptics in Newcastle, as well as our Vice Chair for the last 2 years, Helen has been instrumental in BIOS’s transition to operational independence. She brings a wealth of experience to take on the role as Chair.

In stepping from Vice Chair to Chair, it also provides BIOS and the Board continuity of leadership as we continue to deliver our current strategy and build on the success of the developments that have been made over the last few years. Helen will continue to work closely with Craig and the BIOS team to ensure a smooth transition.
