As the Rebublic of Ireland Trustee I would like to say thank you to all of our members who have engaged so well in our recent BIOS CPD activities we have organised in Ireland.
I would also like to encourage participation in the development of a Strategic Framework for the Health and Social Care Professions (HSCP). This is the RoI equivalent of the AHPF in the UK, and it is important that as many of us get involved as we are such a small profession.
It is great to see good uptake of BIOS events, and we are very excited to host the Neuro CAG in Dublin on 8th November 2019. I would like to take the Opportunity to highlight how good the resources are on the BIOS website for all of the Clinical Advisory Groups. Not only do they give all members to opportunity to advance their knowledge in specialist areas but it allows us as clinicians to direct our patients to relevant websites which may help them. Take some time to have a look at the Clinical Advisory Group section on the website as it provides advice on a range of core Orthoptic, advanced and extended roles.
The Republic of Ireland members can get involved and input into the development of a Strategic Framework for the Health and Social Care Professions (HSCP) via the HSCP Hub on www.hseland.ie.
One of the clinical leadership priorities in Service Plan 2019 is to ‘support and strengthen capacity within health and social care professions (HSCPs) through strategic leadership, engagement and development of a strategic framework to enable their full potential to deliver improved outcomes for service users.’
Taking this step right now can help policy makers, commissioners, leaders and managers better understand and support the transformative potential of HSCP and can lead to better outcomes and satisfaction for service users and HSCP. It can support and energise HSCP themselves to come together to think, work and collaborate in new and different ways.
- Sign up for one of the face to face workshops on the HSCP hub on hseland.ie
- Workshops together with an online platform are being organised to generate information to inform the development of the HSCP framework in response to Sláintecare.
Sign up now and get involved!
