BIOS Clinical Tutors Course

  • Members of BIOS with at least 2 years' full-time clinical experience.
  • Orthoptists who are not members of BIOS and who have at least two years' full-time clinical experience.

The course is designed for Orthoptists with a minimum of 2 years' full-time clinical experience who are keen to participate in the tuition of undergraduate Orthoptists.


  • Practical help in the planning for clinical placements

  • Learning methods

  • Clinical demonstrating

  • Problem solving teaching techniques

  • Teaching Aids

  • Expectation of student competencies

  • Grading of performance

  • Assessment construction

  • Development of reflective practice

The course is held over two days. Lunch, tea and coffee will be provided as part of the course package on both days.

Accommodation is not provided, however there are hotels within easy access of the course venue, either in Birmingham City Centre or on the Hagley Road.

Course Fee:

£190.00 (Fees must be paid in advance of attendance). There will be a maximum of 21 delegates.

Cancellation policy

Delegates cancelling may:

  • Substitute a suitably-qualified colleague (please give at least one week's notice before commencement of the course).
  • Receive a full refund if cancelling on or before 31 January 2013
or they will be liable to:

Pay 100% of the fee if notice is given on or after 1 February 2013.

NB. The course is NOT designed for those wishing to be Lead Clinical Tutors. Lead Tutors need to undertake an educational course with 3 credit points. Those wishing to pursue Lead Clinical Tutors roles should contact their BIOS Branch Representative for assistance in choosing an appropriate educational course.
